  • Description:
    • The Contracts Manager will be responsible for implementing contracts / commercial best practices to maximize value and minimize risk and cost to ensure maximum recovery of all contractual & legal entitlements. Also, he will provide pre and post contract commercial & legal solutions to facilitate commercial management across a portfolio of Contracts or bids at contract level.
    • Principal Accountabilities & responsibilities:
      • Ensure compliance with relevant contract conditions, Company’s systems, processes and procedures to deliver Pre & Post contract and commercial management.
      • Exercise full cost control of project(s) including providing and monitoring budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the Project Managers.
      • Review all contracts & commercial reports including Cost Value Reconciliations and cash flows before submission.
      • Work within the strict deadlines required under the Contract(s) and as required by Company’s Management.
      • Legal understanding relevant to contracts.
      • Generate, negotiate and complete Company’s sub-contracts with sub-contractors and suppliers
      • Assist and advise the management in ensuring timely issuing of all notices required under the Contract(s).
      • Review all variations (changes) to the works in conjunction with other project team members and ensure all contractual notices and early warnings are submitted within the required timescales.
      • Review the existence of any “claim” and “extension of time” situations.
      • Establish the entitlement of all claims, generate and submit all associated claims narratives and quantums.
      • Endeavour to ensure that all contemporary records are kept by the project team members for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations.
      • Finalize and agree all claims under authority of COO / CEO.
      • Ensure all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment are adhered to.
      • Support the tender processes and strategy as required on bids.
      • Ensure and accurate change control process is managed effectively.
      • Provide sound commercial and contractual advice to the Project Managers and other team members.
      • Promote a team-working environment.
      • Proactively instill commercial and contractual awareness throughout the project team.
      • Promote the Company’s safety culture.
      • Participate in regular monthly safety meetings.
    • Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience
      • Bachelor degree from a recognized university in Quantity Surveying or Project Management or any equivalent.
      • At least 12 years’ experience out of which 5 years in managerial position in a similar field.
      • Demonstrates a proven track record in quantity surveying / commercial management with significant experience in a senior role.
      • Experience in the assessment of claims and variations on major civil works, Utilities, infrastructure and roads projects.
      • Good knowledge and experience of contract forms related to major Civil Works projects.
      • Awareness of FIDIC and Local Laws.
      • Good negotiation skills.
      • Ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines.
      • GCC experience is preferable.
