Description:
1. Database Administration (SQL Server & PostgreSQL)
• Administer, maintain, and secure enterprise databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) supporting GIS and environmental data systems.
• Manage user permissions, roles, and security settings.
• Perform daily database health checks, including backup and restore validation, capacity monitoring, and unusual update reviews within the last 72 hours.
•Monitor IP connections, resolve hanging sessions, and ensure stable connectivity.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent downtime during schema updates or live edits.
•Integrate and manage ArcSDE connections with ArcGIS Server and Enterprise environments.
•Oversee versioning, archiving, and indexing to ensure optimal database performance.
•Design and manage schemas compliant with environmental and conservation council standards (IUCN).
•Create and maintain relational database structures for key domains: environment, boundaries, zoning, weather, terrain, nature, land and property, tourism, archaeology, and mining.
2. GIS Systems & Data Management (Esri ArcGIS)
•Administer and process all GIS datasets, including basemaps, climate, and satellite imagery prior to server publication.
•Manage and clean GIS attribute tables (domains, subtypes, classifications) and resolve data inconsistencies or duplicates.
•Optimize ArcSDE layers for performance and rendering.
•Support the GIS team by providing technical expertise, tools, and troubleshooting.
•Ensure correct coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data accuracy across all datasets.
3.ArcGIS Enterprise Management
•Manage all components of ArcGIS Enterprise including Portal, Datastore, Server, Image Server, and Web Adaptor.
•Publish and maintain Map Services and Feature Services for internal and external users.
•Control data access, editing privileges, and performance tuning post-deployment.
•Collaborate with developers to optimize API-based integrations and ensure seamless system design.
•Implement structured archiving, backup, and versioning strategies for the Portal Datastore.
•Monitor WebAdaptor traffic, query load, and optimize connection throughput.
•Administer ImageServer for aerial and remote sensing imagery, ensuring accurate alignment and enhancement.
•Coordinate with internal teams and Esri Support to resolve technical issues.
•Maintain uptime and performance for all GIS applications (Mobile Field Apps, Master Plan Viewer, Explorer, Dashboards).
•Lead ongoing efforts to integrate drone imagery (UAV) into centralized databases.
4. IT Systems & Server Administration
•Oversee and maintain six Google Cloud Platform (GCP) servers hosting Esri environments.
•Manage one dedicated database server hosting seven staging and production databases.
•Administer Windows Server Active Directory permissions for GIS and development teams.
•Supervise storage utilization on Data Servers (5 TB), ensuring proper classification and access control.
•Coordinate with the IT department for network configurations, port management.
•Support colleagues with system maintenance, software installation (e.g., GEE, ERDAS Imagine, Global Mapper, QGIS), and troubleshooting.
•Manage Google Cloud Shared Folders and ensure secure data synchronization across user devices.
•Collaborate on JIRA system enhancement, cybersecurity updates, and TrendMicro alerts.
•Liaise with Google Cloud Egypt for external technical support when required.
5. Automation & Scripting (Python)
•Develop and deploy on-premise automation scripts for scheduled data backup and restoration.
•Write custom Python tools to enhance system performance, automate administrative tasks, and streamline data workflows.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology (or related field).
•10+ years of progressive experience in GIS, database, and IT administration.
• Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Python.
•Strong understanding of geospatial databases, system integration, and server infrastructure.
•Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Active Directory, and Cybersecurity protocols.
•Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system reliability and data integrity.
