JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the broiler poultry farm to ensure optimal bird health, productivity, biosecurity, and profitability. This role involves managing farm staff, production processes, feed and medication programs, equipment, and compliance with animal welfare and food safety standards.
⚫ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FARM OPERATIONS & PRODUCTION
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily broiler production activities
• Monitor bird health, growth rates, feed conversion ratios (FCR), and mortality
• Ensure proper brooding, feeding, watering, lighting, and ventilation practices
• Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
⚫ANIMAL HEALTH & BIOSECURITY
• Enforce strict biosecurity and disease prevention measures
• Coordinate vaccination, medication, and health programs with veterinarians
• Identify and respond promptly to disease outbreaks or production issues
• Maintain accurate health and mortality records
⚫STAFF MANAGEMENT
• Supervise, train, and schedule farm workers and supervisors
• Ensure staff follow farm protocols, safety procedures, and animal welfare standards
• Evaluate employee performance and support skill development
• Promote a safe and productive work environment
⚫FEED, INVENTORY & EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
• Manage feed ordering, storage, and usage to minimize waste
• Oversee inventory of chicks, feed, medications, and farm supplies
• Ensure proper maintenance and operation of farm equipment and facilities
• Coordinate repairs and upgrades when needed
⚫QUALITY CONTROL & COMPLIANCE
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations, food safety standards, and company policies
• Maintain production and compliance records for audits and inspections
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
⚫FINANCIAL & PERFORMANCE REPORTING
• Monitor production costs and assist with budget planning
• Prepare regular operational and performance reports
• Analyze production data to improve efficiency and profitability
⚫QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Agriculture, or related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in broiler poultry farm operations or livestock management
• Proven experience in team supervision and farm management
⚫TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Strong knowledge of broiler production systems and best practices
• Understanding of poultry health, nutrition, and biosecurity
• Ability to analyze production data and performance metrics
