Our client is a prominent, medium-sized Asset Management firm specializing in comprehensive investment strategies, including Real Estate, Equity Investments, Fixed Income, Alternatives, Wealth Management, and Arrangement & Advisory services. Positioned for strategic portfolio growth and operational compliance, the firm is seeking a highly qualified Legal Counsel to manage, mitigate, and advise on corporate legal, transactional, and regulatory matters across its multi-asset investment portfolios. Key Responsibilities
- Transaction & M&A Legal Support: Structure, draft, negotiate, and review legal documentation for complex mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and direct investments across real estate, equity, and fixed income.
- Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Prepare, examine, and finalize commercial contracts, asset management agreements, advisory mandates, service level agreements, and partnership contracts.
- Regulatory Compliance & Advisory: Ensure company operations and fund structures comply with Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), Qatar Central Bank (QCB), Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Corporate Governance: Oversee corporate governance frameworks, board meeting preparation, corporate secretarial obligations, and regulatory filings to ensure compliance with regional laws.
- Risk & Dispute Management: Identify and mitigate legal, operational, and regulatory risks across alternative investments and wealth management activities while overseeing external legal counsel during litigation or dispute resolutions.
- Wealth & Asset Management Structuring: Advise internal teams on legal frameworks for fund formation, bespoke wealth management vehicles, and arrangements/advisory mandates.
- Legal Consultation: Serve as an internal trusted legal advisor to executive management on corporate law matters, strategic initiatives, and organizational policies.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 12+ years of relevant legal experience within in-house asset management/financial services or at a reputable corporate law firm.
- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited university (Master of Laws / LL.M. or Bar Admission preferred).
- Specific Skills: Expertise in corporate law, M&A transactions, fund structuring, regulatory compliance (QFC/QCB/QFMA), contract negotiation, and dispute management.
- Languages: English fluency required; Arabic fluency is a strong advantage.
