Our client is a prominent, large-scale Banking nstitution headquartered in Damascus, Syria. Operating across corporate, retail, risk, treasury, and operational divisions, the bank is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and results-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead overall institutional growth, enforce rigorous governance and regulatory compliance, drive financial performance, and champion operational and digital modernization under the direction of the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities
- Executive Leadership & Strategic Governance: Formulate and execute long-term corporate strategies, annual budgets, and growth initiatives; lead executive committees and deliver regular performance and capital adequacy reporting to the Board of Directors.
- Operations, Finance & Risk Management: Oversee end-to-end banking operations, financial performance, and technology infrastructure; establish robust risk management frameworks across credit, operational, market, and liquidity risks.
- Regulatory Compliance & Integrity: Ensure absolute compliance with Central Bank regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, and international banking frameworks.
- Market Growth & Stakeholder Engagement: Drive business expansion across corporate, retail, and institutional segments; build high-level relationships with regulators, corporate clients, correspondent banks, and key partners.
- Digital Transformation: Champion operational modernization and digital innovation to optimize delivery channels and elevate customer experience.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 20 years of progressive leadership within the banking sector, with proven executive tenure in roles such as Chief Operations Officer (COO), Deputy General Manager (DGM), or General Manager (GM).
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration (executive banking or governance certifications preferred).
- Specific Skills: Expertise in commercial banking operations, strategic financial leadership, risk management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and operating within complex macroeconomic environments.
- Languages: Native-level Arabic is strictly required; fluent English required.
- Location/Mobility: Based in Damascus, Syria (Sourcing preferred from the Middle East region, open to candidates inside or outside Syria).
- Work Logistics: 5 working days per week; joining timeline as per executive board agreement.
