Our client is a leading, large-scale multi-brand retail and distribution group based in Amman, Jordan. The company is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Operations & Support Services Director to build, lead, and continuously elevate the operational and support-services platform across the organization.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director will oversee Operations (Procurement, Warehousing & Logistics, Maintenance & Facilities, and Government Relations), Human Resources, and Information Technology. The primary mission of this role is to build a scalable operating platform that ensures execution excellence, high productivity, cost efficiency, and business continuity across all brands and locations. The role focuses on:
- Driving operational excellence and process standardization across all group functions.
- Strategically leading supply chain, warehousing, logistics, and non-merchandise procurement.
- Overseeing facilities management, store readiness, and government relations/licensing.
- Leading HR infrastructure, workforce planning, and operational IT services.
- Managing group-wide operational risk, health & safety, and business continuity strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence & Process Standardization
- Design and continuously improve operational processes across all brands and locations to improve execution speed and eliminate waste.
- Standardize operating procedures (SOPs) and strengthen cross-functional efficiency.
- Prepare operational strategies, budgets, and CAPEX plans for CEO recommendation and approval.
2. Procurement & Supply Chain Execution
- Transform non-merchandise procurement into a strategic, cost-optimizing value creator.
- Oversee warehouse efficiency, inventory movement, customs clearance, and distribution execution (including e-commerce fulfillment).
- Lead high-level vendor negotiations, strategic sourcing, and contract management.
3. Maintenance, Facilities & Government Relations
- Ensure all retail showrooms and facilities meet brand standards through preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Oversee government relations to maintain all commercial registrations, municipal licenses, and regulatory compliance on schedule.
4. Information Technology & Systems Operations
- Ensure reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT infrastructure and core business systems operations (POS, ERP).
- Own IT operational KPIs (system uptime, incident response time, cybersecurity compliance) and manage change control processes.
5. Human Resources & Organizational Capability
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, performance cycle administration, and employee relations.
- Manage HR administration within CEO-approved compensation and organizational design policies.
- Oversee first-tier grievance models and disciplinary processes.
6. Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Build organizational resilience by maintaining the Group’s operational risk register.
- Formulate and test business continuity plans, IT disaster recovery strategies, and health & safety compliance.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead direct reports (Operations Manager, HR Manager, and IT Manager).
- Chair weekly Operational Excellence Meetings to resolve delays, optimize resource allocation, and review group scorecards.
- Present monthly Executive Operations Reviews and quarterly risk/capability evaluations to executive management.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 12 to 15 years of progressive operational experience, with at least 5 years in senior operations leadership within retail or distribution environments covering supply chain, facilities, and procurement.
- Regional Experience: Strong preference for candidates with experience in the GCC market.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline (MBA is strongly preferred).
- Functional Scope: Proven experience overseeing non-merchandise procurement, logistics, HR administration, and IT operational support functions.
- Core Skills:
- Strong mastery of operational excellence, process design, and cost management.
- Sound expertise in governance, risk mitigation, and business continuity planning.
- Service-driven leadership mindset with ability to support commercial and expansion goals.
- Languages: Native-level Arabic and fluent English language skills are mandatory.
- Location: Based in or willing to relocate to Amman, Jordan (open to candidates inside Jordan or returning/relocating from the GCC region).
