    Position – Mechanical Engineer - Asset Maintenance.

    Location - Attarat Maintenance Company (AMCO), Attarat Um Ghudran, Jordan

    The Mechanical Engineer key role is to support the maintenance and repair department by providing technical and engineering expertise to complex engineering projects assigned by the Asset Maintenance Manager (AMM). The Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the AMM.

    The Summary of the role accountability, responsibility and authority

    The Mechanical Engineer shall:

    • Attend regular safety meetings and give feedback on contentious safety issues relative to sub-optimal engineering standards that need modifying.
    • Liaise and assist with quality issues and facilitate long and short-term process improvement opportunities, using reliability tools like FMEA, Cause and Effect, Fault Tree, Affinity Analysis, etcetera.
    • Design an effective equipment Condition Monitoring approach inclusive of Vibration Signature Analysis, Noise Attenuation and Thermal methodologies. Provide inhouse training.
    • Be aware of current Jordanian codes, laws, legislation and other mining or industrial standards including AMCO policies that are legally relevant to equipment assets and maintenance practices. Keep the AMM informed of any issues.
    • Maintain working relationships with all peers and stakeholders.
    • Work with the Planning and Demand Superintendent on reviews of asset equipment data sets and data requirements to enable an effective functional analysis process and insightful KPI’s.
    • Work on critical capital value projects with maintenance teams, vendors and other stakeholders. Add value and engineering input.
    • Be involved in managing, designing and commissioning load bearing structures before AMCO employees (Welders, Boilermakers) get involved.
    • Responsible for monitoring and measurement of the conveyor system components.
    • Be collaborative, respectful and cooperative with others regardless of who they are.
    • Be physically fit and on call to work extended hours to support the team if required.

    Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)

    • Able to demonstrate leadership qualities that keep the team working together and inspired.
    • Able to effectively supervise a diverse workforce with multiple skill sets working on a explicit capital project.
    • Have excellent technical skills and knowledge commensurate with materials handling or mining equipment.
    • Able to interpret complex engineering drawings, viz. hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical circuitry and reticulation systems.
    • Sound overall knowledge of materials handling maintenance and repair – large crushers, conveyors, screens and loading equipment, etc.
    • Some work experience and appreciation of electrical and electronics is a definite advantage.

    • Sound and demonstrated efficiency, organisation and people skills.

    Qualifications Required:

    • Fluent in Arabic, and very good English oral and written communication skills.
    • Minimum >8 years’ experience in a large mine maintenance or heavy industrial setting as a hands-on Mechanical Engineer.
    • A University bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory for this role.
    • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and MS Office suite.
