    Position – Workshop Superintendent

    Location - Attarat Maintenance Company (AMCO), Attarat Um Ghudran, Jordan

    The Workshop Superintendent directs the Belt & Tyre Technicians, Welders, Machinists, I & C mechanics and Yard & Equipment Operators to primarily, but not limited to repair and maintenance of assets in the maintenance workshop. The Workshop Superintendent reports directly to the AMM (Asset Maintenance Manager).

    The Summary of the role accountability, responsibility and authority

    The Workshop Superintendent:

    • Directly controls and deploys adequate workshop resources to ensure equipment Assets meet production demands and throughput expectations.
    • Provide direction and guidance to the trade team.
    • Facilitate regular safety meetings and drive improvement team initiatives
    • Be responsible for a zero-harm work environment including near miss incidents.
    • Ensure risk assessments are completed for work and attached to Work Orders.
    • Be aware of the OPEX budget versus actual cost performance.
    • Ensure the efficient flow of work in the workshop and the team meet deadlines and satisfy internal customer expectations.
    • Maintain effective relationships with all peers and stakeholders.
    • Complete and sign off all work orders and documentation and liaise with Maintenance Planning to confirm job completion and close out.
    • Always enforce the AMCO safety policy and compliances. Engage the assigned HSE Supervisor when planning work related to safety, or if unsure of applicable safety rules. Never make changes to existing safe working practice or equipment.
    • Ensure all employees wear/use prescribed PPE, including visitors and other AMCO employees who enter the workshop and yard area.
    • Mentor direct reports and employees within your area of influence to maintain harmonious relations and high levels of motivation.
    • Manage maintenance personnel and performance. Report all emerging issues to the AMM for resolution.
    • Produce necessary input into performance reports as required by the AMM.
    • Ensure a Work Order is raised for every job – no exceptions.
    • Work closely with the warehouse and Procurement team to ensure parts and materials are available and aligned to needs.
    • Build strong relationships with production employees; listen and act on their concerns; be customer focused.
    • Help facilitate the monthly Safety Committee meeting and contribute in team continuous improvement initiatives, keeping the AMM informed of progress and potential issues.

    • Able to demonstrate leadership qualities that keep the team working together and inspired.
    • Be collaborative, respectful and cooperative with others regardless of who they are.
    • Be prepared to undergo training in the AMCO maintenance management system software, Maximo; be a key user of the system.
    • Able to actively solve people issues centric to relationships and conflict.
    • Able to effectively manage a large diverse workforce with multiple skill sets working rotating continuous shifts.
    • Have excellent technical skills and knowledge commensurate with materials handling or mining equipment.
    • Able to carry out effective risk assessments for your team to follow that supports safe working practice principles.
    • Recognize and advise the AMM of any employee difficulties including personal and emerging other issues affecting performance or Safety at work.
    • Be physically fit and available to work extended hours to support the team if required.
    • Able to interpret engineering drawings, viz. hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical circuitry and reticulation.
    • Expert in machining practice – lathe, milling, boring and component assembly fitting.
    • Sound overall knowledge of materials handling maintenance and repair – large crushers, conveyors, screens and loading equipment, etc.
    • Knowledge of welding methods (MIG-TIG-Arc) and fabrication of parts and wear replacement, including structural fabrication via engineering working drawings.

    Qualifications Required:

    • Fluent in Arabic, and very good English oral and written communication skills
    • Minimum >10 years’ experience in a large mine maintenance or heavy industrial setting as a lead in a welding, fabrication and machine shop.
    • A recognized University or a technical training engineering qualification is preferred for this role.
    • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office (Power Point, Word and Excel)
