Position : DCS Engineer - C&l Maintenance Location - Attarat Operation & Maintenance Company, Attarat Um Ghudran, Jordan The position holder to function as a
DCS Engineer C&I Maintenance and report to
Head of C&I Maintenance for the carrying out the maintenance the DCS and PLC systems of the plant. This includes providing technical capability to the team, budgetary control and spares management and maintenance of the highest standards of safety and good housekeeping.
The Summary of Role, Accountability, Responsibility and Authority
- This position is responsible and accountable for maintaining all the DCS and PLC systems in a thermal power station with unit capacity 2 X270 MW. He shall be fully familiar with the DCS and PLC architecture of the plant and capable to take decisions independently and/or in consultation with the Head of the Section.
- Accountable for ensuring that the highest standards of safety and good housekeeping are achieved in his area of work in the section and with contractors.
- Accountable for preparing standard maintenance procedures (SMP) and Risk assessment in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for defining and developing suitable maintenance strategies including but not limited to preventive and predictive techniques, failure analysis and the assessment of engineering risk in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for proper planning of spares inventory (critical and recommended) and ensuring that adequate spares are stocked to support maintenance activities in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for proper planning of consumables and tools and ensuring that adequate consumables are stocked and tools are available to support maintenance activities in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for supporting the Head of C&I Maintenance in the preparation and control of budgets.
- Accountable for developing and managing outage plans in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for preparing contract technical specifications and technical reports in his area of work in the section.
- Accountable for exercising control of staff in the areas of discipline, assessment, development and training.
- Responsible for making a positive personal contribution to PTW system, safety, security and good housekeeping.
- Monitor, control, maintain, repair and modify if needed and do administration of the DCS and PLC Systems, Infrastructure and Networks to ensure high levels of reliability, availability and performance.
- Action regular backups to ensure high levels of data security and enable effective disaster recovery.
- Responsible for effective implementation and sustenance of Maximo in his area of work in the section.
- Coordination for statutory compliances and routine works in his area of work in the section
- Responsible for undertaking other related duties within the roles and responsibilities as required by the Head of the Section.
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)
- Experienced and familiar with maintenance and administration of all Distributed Control Systems and PLC systems in large capacity power plants.
- Skillset to make modifications in control schemes and instruments, configuration and tuning of open and closed control loops, modification of the HMI graphics of the plant DCS and PLC.
- Skills to train and guide the other maintenance and operation staff in operation and maintenance of the DCS system.
- Plant assessments to identify challenges and propose technical solutions. Develop mechanism to minimise the maintenance cost and monitor healthiness of plant equipment.
- Work closely with the service providers to drive penetration at every outage/event.
- Preparation of Engineering Procedures in his area of work in the Section and provide guidance to thecolleagues in the Section to maintain equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure availability of all C&I equipment. Prepare maintain and analyse report ofoutages.
- Provide training to associate workers.
Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)
Necessary:
- Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in C&I Engineering.
- Have at least >7 years of experience in maintenance of power plant of >200 MW capacity Power Generation units.
- Having experience in working with Siemens T3000 DCS.
- Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated high levels of organization, written/verbal communication and documentation skills with strong team working skills.
- Planned, routine maintenance, maintenance of C&I systems along with associated auxiliaries during Major and Minor overhaul ensuring safety, high availability and reliability of equipment.
- Knowledge of standard maintenance procedures required for maintenance of C&I installations.
Desirable:
- Having Experience in working with Chinese EPC Vendor.
- Overseas working experience.
- Understanding of local sensitiveness and values.
