    Job Description Ash Operations Superintendent Job Purpose

    The Ash Operations Superintendent will be reporting to the Fuel & Ash Handling Manager. He will be responsible for supervising the Ash Disposal Operations and directs shift supervisors of the Ash Disposal Operations as well as coordinates directly with necessary Power Plant operational staff. Focus shall be to ensure continuous, reliable and safe disposal of ash in order to secure high availability of the Power Plant. Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Supervise and follow up the Ash Disposal Operations as required by the power plant requirements and ash disposal plans and instructions.
    2. Manpower shift teams of the Ash Operations.
    3. Supervise 24/7 operations of Ash Disposal.
    4. Supervise the safety of ash Disposal operations. Ash Operations Superintendent is directly responsible for the all safety aspects of the Ash Disposal Operations.
    5. Direct shift supervisors of the Ash Disposal Operations.
    6. Perform Ash Operations by receiving the ash from Power Plant. Perform levelling and additional dust suspension of ash as required and make final coverage of the ash pads.
    7. Ensure the slope stability of the Ash Disposal yard by coordinating with the mining team.
    8. Follow the Ash Disposal plan and schedules with focus on safe working procedures.
    9. Perform shifting and extending the conveyors as needed for operations from time to time.
    10. Supervise installations required for the Ash Handling Equipment at Ash Disposal Yard.
    11. Work closely with maintenance teams in order to maintain high availability of the Ash Handling Equipment.
    12. Assign work orders for equipment maintenance purposes in the mine’s maintenance system Maximo.
    13. Provide and organize training for shift supervisors and shift operator/technicians.
    14. Provide input for weekly and monthly reports and other reports as required from time to time.
    15. Ensure that Ash Operations OPEX and CAPEX shall not be exceeded.
    16. Develop operational and safety manual, handbook, instructions and guidelines for the Ash Disposal Operations. Update documents continuously as operations progresses.
    17. Ensure that applicable conditions and requirements as set in major and in the other contracts, as well as internal/external policies/guidelines, are always met.
    18. Ensure adherence to policies, standards, and procedures in Ash Operations and all related activities.
    19. Ensure top tier performance of Ash operations and all related activities by ensuring all the relevant activities are performed according to the confirmed budgets and plans and company policies, guidelines, manuals and standards.
    20. Arrange Ash Sample collection as required from time to time.
    21. Deliver the Samples to the laboratory for analyses.
    22. Documentation of all Ash Disposal activities and informing immediately risks that can jeopardize operations, plans, schedule, budget, safety, business or events that can negatively influence other site operations such as mining, power plant, maintenance etc.
    23. Report immediately all impropriate behaviour or actions that can jeopardize safety, health or environment.
    24. Conduct risk assessments related to Ash Operations. Conduct and participate investigations of safety, health or environment incidents when required.
    25. Perform and participate Ash Operations development projects as required from time to time.
    26. Maintain and develop good relationship with all relevant stakeholders related to Ash Handling Operations.
    27. Perform other related project tasks as required and other related operational tasks as instructed by upper management from time to time.
    Minimum Qualification
    • BSc in Mining Engineering or relevant field with 5-10 years of experience in mines or heavy industry operations.
    Specialized knowledge
    • Capability to read technical drawings.
    • Understanding of technical capabilities of crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers and reclaimers.
    • Understanding of preventive maintenance principles and top tier operating principles.
    • General mining equipment knowhow is an advantage.
    Skills & Abilities
    • English language proficiency (spoken and written).
    • Fluent in Arabic.
    • Good MS Office skills in Word, Outlook and Excel.
    • Understanding of autocad drawings and typical technical symbols/characters
    • An ability to write clear reports.
    • Problem solving and analytical skills
    • Good interpersonal skills, energetic and able to work with team or independently and under pressure and to work outside official office hours when required by operations;
    • Strong technical skills
    • Excellent Teamworking skills
    • Good communication skills.
    Working Conditions The job location in the Attarat Oil Shale Mine in Attarat Um Ghudran Area, 110 km to the south-east of Amman. The Job is based on a day shift according to company policy.
