Job Purpose
Resource Geologist is responsible for geological interpretation and resource estimation, exploration activities and assisting in establishing best practice processes as they relate to grade control and reconciliation and resource modelling and strategic resource analysing to the mining operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and update the current resource and reserve models
- Validate interpret and analyse data as received
- Oversee and verify models and interpretations built by geology team and/or consultants
- Refinement and development of 3D geology models
- Conduct extensive QAQC monitoring to ensure data and interpretations are accurate
- Conduct full resource estimation
- Update grade control models
- Manage all information related to the resource, ensuring assays, composites, densities, and related information are accurate and validated
- Monitor regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates
- Review data integrity and quality during each drilling phase and ensure effective communication is maintained with all relevant team members
- Produce and validate (resource and grade control) block models as required. Perform variography and produce Ordinary Kriging interpolation in resource and grade control block models and use industry standard methods (eg. swath plots) to compare with raw and composite data. Ensure the resource is classified according to JORC standards.
- Support the Mine Manager by providing quality block models for planning and scheduling purposes in a timely manner
- Establish, monitor and improve grade control procedures
- Collaborate with the Engineering, Mining, Exploration, and HSE teams to coordinate all aspects of the geological resource and reserve processes pertaining to all aspects of the project
- Recommend updates or changes to the resource and reserve modelling processes to improve quality and efficiency and ensure any modifications are consistently implemented and documented
- Periodically perform mine to mill reconciliations
- Assist with the geotechnical guidance
- Modify drawings, block models and designs based on updated information obtained during mining activities
- Collaborate with Mining Engineers and Surveyors to manage ore loss and dilution
- Any tasks related to planning, engineering and design assigned by the Mine Manager.
Minimum Qualification
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering (Grade point average of “Good” or higher)
- Relevant Experience: not less than 3 years in geological modelling and reserve estimation.
