  The Quality Engineer will be reporting to the Fuel & Ash Handling Manager. He will be responsible for quality management of the Fuel Handling (oil shale) and Ash Disposal Operations and directs Modelling and Reporting Engineer as well as coordinates directly with necessary internal/external stakeholders. Focus shall be to ensure that compliance with quality requirements are met and contractual obligations fulfilled Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Main responsibility is to perform quality calculations for the oil shale inventory at the mixing yard, track the quality of oil shale delivered from the open pit mine and record the quality of oil shale released to the power plant.
  2. Maintain all documentation related to fuel and ash handling such as SOP’s, specifications, instructions, manuals and quality control documentation.
  3. Direct the Modelling and Reporting engineer in order to ensure that all the records are updated and properly filed on site (soft and hard copy) and available for all the relevant AMCO staff.
  4. Work closely with internal/external stakeholders such as commercial department and in some cases act as a contract holder in order to secure compliance with all requirements (internal/external) and to achieve high operational excellence.
  5. Provide and organize training for AMCO’s operational staff.
  6. Prepare and provide input weekly and monthly reports and other reports as required.
  7. Ensure that applicable conditions and requirements as set in major and in the other contracts, as well as internal/external policies/guidelines, are always met.
  8. Ensure adherence to policies, standards, and procedures in Fuel Handling and Ash Operations and all related activities.
  9. Ensure top tier performance of Fuel Handling and Ash operations and all related activities by ensuring all the relevant activities are performed according to the confirmed budgets and plans and company policies, guidelines, manuals and standards.
  10. Support laboratory staff in developing quality control practices.
  11. Ensure good quality control practices related to sampling of oil shale and ash.
  12. Develop quality control plan in order to fulfill all the AMCO’s contractual obligations.
  13. Develop and maintain asset register for Fuel and Ash handling equipment.
  14. Manage and perform internal auditing processes and ensure compliance is met.
  15. Report immediately all impropriate behaviour or actions that can jeopardize safety, health or environment.
  16. Perform and participate development projects as required from time to time.
  17. Maintain and develop good relationship with all relevant stakeholders related to Fuel Handling and Ash Handling Operations.
  18. Perform other related project tasks as required and other related operational tasks as instructed by upper management from time to time.

  Minimum Qualification

  • BSc in Quality Management or relevant field with minimum of 5 years of experience in industry.

  Specialized knowledge

  • Capability to create effective reports.
  • Understanding of chemistry and technical terminology.
  • General mining knowhow is an advantage.

  Skills & Abilities

  • English language proficiency (spoken and written).
  • Fluent in Arabic.
  • Excellent MS Office skills in Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, energetic and able to work with team or independently and under pressure and to work outside official office hours when required by operations;
