Description: Assistant Unit ControllerThe Assistant Unit Controller (AUC) is responsible for the continuous control and monitoring of all activities associated with the plant and their ancillaries in a safe and efficient manner. The Assistant Unit Controller will: Operate the unit and ancillary plant activities on a shift by shift basis, within the confines of the standard operating procedures and to the Control Room Engineer/Shift Charge Engineer’s instruction ensuring safety, unit efficiency and minimum downtime or delays. To Monitor boiler, turbine & balance of plant parameters routinely and take appropriate actions as required. Responsible for maintaining/ improving Plant Parameters like Heat Rate /Aux. Power / PLF/ Plant Availability/Specific Oil Consumption etc. Communicate appropriate instructions to Field Engineers / Operators / maintenance personnel and communicate the status to Shift In Charge/Control Room Engineer. Unit’s normal operation, Start-up (Cold Start-up, Warm Start-up, Hot Start-up), Shutdown, annual shut down and bringing back the unit in minimum time with utmost safety. Emergency Handling such as power Black-out or tripping of any unit or equipment during the shift in order to safeguard the equipment and reduce the down time. Monitor water & steam chemistry through SWAS to avoid deterioration in condenser, Boiler Feed & Steam quality so as to avoid generation loss and for maintaining equipment healthiness. Maintain an up to date unit operations log, identifying plant status, abnormalities and risks to continued availability, ensuring all such information is communicated during the shift and at the shift hand over. Maintain an up to date operational log, identifying actions taken when operating plant, ensuring all important information is communicated at the shift hand over. Take a pro-active approach to safety management and actively participate in the Company safety procedures and practices. Contribute in developing new standard operating procedures. Minimum Graduate Engineering Degree in Mech/Electrical stream from reputed University. Having min 3 -6 years of experience as Assistant Unit Controller, Operation Engineer or Operation Supervisor in a solid fuel fired power plant. Experience in CFBC boiler will be added advantage. Having hands on experience in operating DCS. Having experience in operating SIEMENS DCS will be an added advantage however operation experience in operating other DCS will also be considered. High motivation, self starter and capable to work under pressure, good communication skills, analytical and logical reasoning. Be able to read and speak English fluently.
