Job Purpose
The Control Room Operator will report to the Control Room Supervisor and performs a range of tasks from the control room of the Fuel Yard. They monitor the process from monitors and automation system. Control room operators make changes to process variables and communicate with other departments to make sure processes keep running smoothly and according to established procedures. They take appropriate actions in case of irregularities or emergencies. Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and Controlling the remote operation of the Fuel Yard operations, including performing corrective action as required.
- Monitor the quality of oil shale delivered from the mine. Perform corrective actions in case quality or quantity targets are not met.
- Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required.
- Work effectively in a team environment to monitor, log, resolve and escalate operation and safety issues.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Assist with additional work as required or requested by the shift supervisor or Fuel Yard superintendent.
- Attends daily coordination and planning meetings.
- Participate all the trainings and courses as instructed by the upper management.
- Provide input for daily shift reports and other reports as required from time to time.
- Follow operational and safety manual, handbook, instructions and guidelines for the Fuel Yard Operations.
- Report immediately all impropriate behaviour or actions that can jeopardize safety, health or environment to shift supervisor.
- Participate Fuel Yard Operations development projects as required from time to time.
- Perform other related project tasks as required and other related operational tasks as instructed by upper management from time to time.
- Supervise critical operational activities such start-ups and shutdowns and provide technical guidance to field operators during that.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instruments manuals, mechanical flow diagrams.
Minimum Qualification
- Diploma in Mining Engineering or relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience in mines or heavy industry operations.
Specialized knowledge
- Experience in an automated control room environment is required.
- Capability to write clear reports in order to track shift activities and production performance.
- Understanding of technical capabilities of crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers and reclaimers.
- General mining equipment knowhow is an advantage.
