The Supervisor HSE/QCQA – Asset and Maintenance Dept is primarily responsible for facilitating the development of safety policies and providing solutions, guidelines and expert opinion for safety related issues, training and improvement prospects.
The Supervisor HSE/QCQA – Asset and Maintenance Dept reports directly to the AMM (Asset Maintenance Manager) with a dotted line responsibility to the HSE Lead, Workshop Superintendent, R & Maint Superintendents, Planning and Demand Lead, and the Parts and Supply Lead.
The Summary of the role accountability, responsibility and authority
The Supervisor HSE/QCQA – Asset and Maintenance Dept shall;
- Coordinate and evaluate job hazards and design control measures to support safe work and behaviors.
- Provide safety advice and guidance to the trade team from regular audits and observations.
- Ensure production quality requirements are met.
- Inspect random work and make sure conformance with specifications is achieved.
- Be the liaison between maintenance and production to make sure maintenance problems are identified and corrected through the process.
- Conduct and complete incident investigations and reports.
- Work toward a zero-harm work environment including near miss incidents.
- Evaluate the risk assessment Register and suggest improvement(s) opportunities.
- Report all employees who violate the prescribed PPE policy to the AMM, including visitors and other APCO/AMCO employees who enter the workshop and yard area.
- Help facilitate the monthly Safety Committee meeting and contribute in team continuous improvement initiatives, keeping the AMM informed of progress and potential or emerging issues.
- In agreement with the maintenance leadership team safety values, design and produce a monthly HSE Report that encompasses lead and lag indicators.
- Make sure the maintenance team understand safety standards and policies
- Facilitate toolbox talks, JSAs, Lifting Plans and Risk Assessment procedures are followed.
- Convene regular workshop and warehouse physical audits keeping the Asset Maintenance Manager informed of outcomes.
- Oversee and recommend Maintenance team training needs.
- Help develop SOPs that are key to safe practices and procedures. Manage the progress and drive the process on behalf of Asset Maintenance
- Review all major equipment maintenance work and safety plans.
- Assist in random drug and alcohol screening – following the AMCO procedure
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)
- Able to demonstrate leadership qualities that keep the team working together and focused on EH&S.
- Be collaborative, respectful and cooperative with others regardless of who they are.
- Expert at incident reporting and Root Cause Analysis particularly in incident investigation.
- Be familiar with materials handling or mining equipment assets.
- Be physically fit and available to work extended hours to support the team if required.
- Be able to present safety material to small groups and influence outcomes.
Qualifications Required:
- Fluent in Arabic, and very good English oral and written communication and report writing skills
- BSc in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- At least 10 years’ experience in the workforce
- Minimum of 2years’ experience in a large mine maintenance or heavy industrial setting as an EH&S Supervisor or Advisor.
- A recognized University training qualification or EH&S qualification is preferred for this role.
- Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office (Power Point, Word and Excel)
