The
Electrical Technician MVAC’s
key role is to maintain asset equipment MVAC/LVAC electrical maintenance and repairs. The role reports to and directed by the Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Technician performs equipment scheduled and unscheduled repair work on Oil Shale handling assets. Other responsibilities include regular integrity auditing and compliance reporting of electrical equipment as instructed by the Electrical Engineer.
The Electrical Technician MVAC shall:
Attend regular safety meetings, contributing to solutions and safety issues relative to oil shale equipment and systems. – crushers, screens, conveyors, reclaimers, stackers, power systems and electrical supply.
Ensure all electrical incident damage is reported to the Electrical Engineer as soon as practicable.
Accept Work Orders from maintenance planning that schedules and programs services and other rectification work.
Solve and diagnose electrical faults and problems and look for continuous improvement opportunities with energy supply, electromagnetism, electrical electronics, transformers and instrumentation.
Provide input into potential electrically induced warranty claims with the Electrical Engineer and make sure AMCO is protected.
Be aware of current Jordanian electrical codes, laws, legislation and other mining or industrial standards, including AMCO policies which apply to equipment assets and respective maintenance practices.
Spend work time either in the workshop or on site checking and evaluating equipment performance as instructed by the Work Order.
Maintain working relationships with all other electrical, mechanical and mining Personnel on projects.
Be collaborative, respectful and cooperative with others regardless of who they are.
Be physically fit and on call to work extended hours to support the team if required
Engage with warehouse on interpretation of electrical parts when instructed to do so by the Electrical Engineer.
Participate in annual electrical training facilitated by the Electrical Engineer. The learning emphasis is on testing, diagnoses and applying test equipment.
Skills and knowledge required
Able to demonstrate team qualities that maintain effective working relationships.
Experience in 11 kV - MVAC /LVAC electrical equipment, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) trouble shooting, and motor control circuitry.
Programming system setting, MV soft start troubleshooting.
MV Transformer inspection and troubleshooting.
11 kV - MV/LV Switchgear / 11kV Circuit Breakers, transformers, Isolators, air/vacuum circuit breakers (troubleshooting and maintenance)
Trouble shooting of all types of electrical machines and electrical circuits.
Working knowledge of HV & LV electric motor overhaul.
Working knowledge of protection relays.
LV/MV cable joining and cable termination.
Knowledge of insulation (Hi-Pot) testing of power cables.
Read technical and wiring diagrams
Assist with the design including development of single line diagrams, and load lists.
Hold a current First Aid qualification similar to a ‘Senior First aid’ competency.
Able to interpret electrical engineering drawings and perform basic calculations applicable to nameplate operation.
Sound expert electrical knowledge of mining equipment maintenance and repair methods – Electrical prime movers driving; crushers, screens, belt conveyors, reclaimers, stackers.
Some knowledge of instrumentation and electronic I&C controls is advantageous.
Work experience in a major electrical machine overhaul facility is a definite advantage.
Expert problem-solving skills; generic 220/440VAC electrical systems, and electric motor component drives.
Sound time management and people skills.
Qualifications Required:
Electrical Competency, from a recognized electrical authority.
Electrical Certificate of competency MVAC – with minimum 5 years’ experience troubleshooting and maintenance in heavy industry or mining.
Fluent in Arabic, very good oral English and written communication skills.
Minimum >5 years’ experience in a large mine maintenance or power generation electrical setting as a hands-on Electrical Technician, MVAC.
Proficient in MS Word and Excel with average technical report writing abilities.
