• Description:
  Position – Mechanic - Maintenance. The Mechanic - maintenance key role is to repair, replace and monitor equipment maintenance and repairs in the oil shale and Ash handling zones. The Mechanic reports directly to the Repair and Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for safe operating integrity of equipment and professional maintenance best practice repairs. The Mechanic–maintenance shall:

  • Attend regular safety meetings and contribute to safety discussions and concerns.
  • Manage repair in-situ failures when directed.
  • Monitor equipment operating criteria and report any unusual operating behaviors to the Repair and Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Perform regular service and preventative maintenance actions according to Work Order directive(s) from the Planning Dept.
  • Work at heights and ensure correct PPE and safety equipment is deployed. Ensure prescribed PPE is worn at all other times.
  • Maintain friendly cooperative relationships with all peers.
  • Act quickly and decisively when there is a system failure and consequential system stoppage. Ensure work is safely carried out regardless of urgency.
  • Assist other trades when requested to do so by the Repair and Maintenance Superintendent.

  Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)

  • Knowledge of mechanical repair and services on crushers, extensive belt conveyor systems and stackers or reclaimers.
  • Be collaborative, respectful and cooperative with others regardless of who they are.
  • Be physically fit and available to work extended hours to support the team if required
  • Expert knowledge repairing gearbox drives, drive trains, hydraulic circuit trouble shooting and repair of general components – valves, swash plate and positive displacement pumps and accumulators.

  Requisite Qualifications Required:

  • Fluent in Arabic with good English skills
  • High School Graduation Certificate
  • Minimum >5 years’ experience in a large mine maintenance or industrial setting as a Mechanic maintenance managing heavy equipment mechanical systems particularly in the material handling space_.
