  • Description:

    The E&S Specialist will have the following main responsibilities:

    • Be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Group Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
    • Lead &/or contribute to specific packages of work such as stakeholder engagement, needs analysis, community development plans, environmental and social monitoring.
    • Work with the Project Management teams to act as an interface between the project and affected communities.
    • Supervise environmental and social consultants supporting the projects.
    • Help to communicate community project health, safety and security measures to promote community, and worker safety and awareness.
    • Manage the project permitting requirements, keeping all up to date and providing reporting as required.
    • Liaise with relevant state and regulatory agencies.
    • Ensure implementation and upholding of all HSE plans, policies, and procedures.
    • Promote and uphold HSE awareness in all employees.
    • Ensure all HSE and E&S requirements are met and followed.

    The Candidate:

    • Degree in relevant social science or environmental specialist.
    • At least 6 years of experience and demonstrable familiarity and track record of implementing national law and good international industry (GIIP) in Environmental and Social issues.
    • Track record of working in line with the requirements of international financial institutions, specifically the IFC Performance Standards.
    • Experience of IFC and GIIP aligned:
      • social baseline data collection. o stakeholder engagement and key person interviews and groups with a gender and vulnerability lens.
      • physical and economic displacement and IFC PS5 aligned resettlement and livelihoods restoration – planning and implementation.
      • community needs analysis and development planning.
      • community health, safety, and security; and influx management.
    • Self-motivated and able to manage stress, working under pressure.
    • Resilience ability and proactivity.
    • Good teamwork skills.
